Commissioning a mural
Commissioning a mural with Charlotte Designs is easier than you think. I like to make the process of designing your mural as fun and stress free as possible. To that end, I have developed a robust and simple process that ensures you get the mural you want as quickly as possible. Here is how the process works, but if you do have any questions, try our FAQs, have a sift through some Testimonials or simply ask away.
GATHERING INFORMATION
It all startes with information. Information about the mural site, the size and construction of the wall. It also starts with your vision of what you want your wall to look like and how it should make you and anyone else who sees it feel. I ask the questions that make you think and get the outcome right. The more information you can give me at the onset, the better the eventual outcome.
Most of this can be done remotely, unless it is a particuarly complex project. This helps with our green credentials and keeps the project moving along.
COLLABORATION
Mural design should be a collaborative process. Once I have your thoughts and ideas, I can add my 20 years of expertise into the mix and come up with a design that makes your heart sing.
When I have a design that I am happy with, I will show you what your mural will look like on your wall with a mock up. This gives both of us a chance to make changes. This is a key part of the process.
There is no charge up to this point.
COST
The cost of your mural will be discussed even before the designing begins, as I believe in being transparent about pricing. Most of my murals fall between £75 and £120 per square metre, depending on the surface being painted and the complexity of the design.
It is worth pointing out that one of the huge benefits of hand painted murals is costs can controlled to a high degree. Complexities removed to bring the price down or additional words or borders added to bring the price up.
PAINT!
Once the design has been finalised, I arrange a convenient time to come and paint it for you. I am usually booking 6-12 weeks ahead, but that can vary quite a lot. I do recommend that a fresh coat of base paint is applied to help with longevity, but if your wall has been recently decorated, then that may not be needed.
I will bring everything I need with me, all you need to do is sit back and watch me paint (although a cup of coffee and a chocolate buscuit would be welcome), but not necessary!
