Milbank Group’s mountain mural
October 2025
Milbank Group are a private family owned investment firm based in Colchester. They are currently making a few changes to their premises and the entrance to the office is accessed via a staircase going up 3 floors.
The company owner wanted to make the entrance more interesting, and asked me to look at creating a mountain landscape rising up the 25m of wall space. The company wanted to knit in their ethos of helping others through difficulties, and to make a nod to the owner’s love of mountains and climbing. So with that min mind, we combined these two themes and created a mural where each section shows a group of climbers on their journey from beginning to reaching the safety of the mountain village as sunset.
As you walk up the stairwell you follow the climbers as they set off on their journey, helping each other up steep rock faces and along tretcherous ridges, until they reach the top and a view of the Matterhorn and the welcoming village.
The result is a wonderful piece, full of detail and interest. Ashley Perkins, who commissioned Charlotte Designs said “The mural more than meets our expectations! It has transformed the space, creating a striking and uplifting feature that captures the spirit of a journey and achievement perfectly.”
